Sofitel is passionate about providing excellence in everything they do. Each hotel features world class design that reflects the setting and culture of that individual location. These hotels aren’t some cookie cutter building plopped down in the middle of the city. Each Sofitel location is unique, becoming a cherished part of the city that it is blessed to be a part of.
NYC Sofitel
The Sofitel in New York City is impressive. This 30 story midtown hotel gives you the location you desire with modern amenities and rooms so comfortable you will want to stay longer. The staff here is so professional and friendly. Everything about this place is elegant. You feel like you’ve stepped back into the time of The Great Gatsby, yet every detail in the hotel is perfectly modern. The building itself commands your attention, all limestone and glass. You won’t find a better spot in NYC; from the rooms to the entire neighborhood, this will become your home away from home every time you visit Manhattan.
The Rooms
There are 398 rooms, including 52 suites. You can describe the rooms with one word: sophisticated. Every detail was well thought out and carefully selected. In the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city, you will feel like you are at home in your own private space within your Sofitel room. We love the art deco style of the entire place. It fits right in with this trendy neighborhood making it authentically midtown.
There are three types of rooms: Classic, Superior, and Luxury. The rooms increase in size, with Classic being the smallest option and Luxury being the largest. All rooms feature a separate marble bath and shower. Queen or single beds are available in the Classic and Superior. If you want a King, go for the Luxury.
There are three types of suites: Junior, Prestige, and Imperial. The suites provide more space than the rooms and are also great for families. King beds are available in all the suites and there is room for a rollaway bed for a child. The Prestige suit features a terrace. The Imperial suite has a separate living room and office and is located on the 28th floor. Talk about an amazing view!
The Luxury
You may think such a luxurious hotel in the most fabulous city in the world wouldn’t be great for families, but you would be wrong. On a recent trip to NYC, we stayed here with 2 preschoolers and had the best time. Our children were comfortable and welcomed. One feature of the rooms that is perfect for families traveling with children is adjoining rooms. Book two adjoining rooms and you and your partner will have a little privacy while keeping the kids close by. The location is also great for kids. There are so many sights and attractions within an easy commute of the hotel so you don’t feel like you have to drag your kids all over town just to get to an activity that they will actually enjoy.
In keeping with the high quality you would expect from Sofitel, all the amenities are modern and first class. One thing we didn’t expect was how comfortable the beds are in this hotel. You could seriously stay in bed all day, if the excitement of Manhattan wasn’t calling you. Sofitel’s rooms all include their luxurious feathertop and duvet sleep system – SoBed.
Driving into the city? You can valet park your car here. If you’ve been to the city you know that parking isn’t easy to come by so this is a great option to have.
You don’t have to skip your workouts while traveling. Just visit the gym on site. You will feel safe with 24 hour security.
Upon arrival you will be taken aback with the elegance of the hotel. The mixture of limestone and glass shine. The design of the building fits right in this neighborhood that is around the corner from the world famous 5th Avenue.
You must plan to have at least one meal at Gaby, the hotel’s Art-deco inspired French restaurant. The contemporary menu by Chef Slyvain Harribey is perfect for a pre-theater dinner or just pop in for a drink at the bar. The food is so delicious! Room service is available 24 hours a day in all rooms and you can order snacks and meals.
The Neighborhood
Sofitel NYC is at the center of anything and everything you could ever want on a trip to New York City. This really is the best location we could have imagined for our recent visit to the Big Apple. You are oh so close to the most popular spots in the city. The subway is very accessible and takes you anywhere you need to go, yet many attractions are within walking distance. It is a breeze to get here from either airport, JFK or LaGuardia. Times Square, world famous shopping on 5th Avenue, and Central Park are all within walking distance. This neighborhood is absolutely the best.
Here are our top five attractions that we enjoyed with our preschoolers:
Le Carrousel in Bryant Park – You can’t visit New York City with kids and not take a ride on this classic carousel. Just like Sofitel, Bryant Park is inspired by French style. The carousel fits right in, with its European style animals and French cabaret music. A visit here is simply delightful.
The Lego Store – Whenever you are in a city with a Lego Store, you have to stop in when you have Lego crazy kids like we do. There is a location in Rockefeller Center, very close to Sofitel. Our kids loved it here. It isn’t just a store, it is an experience with legos you can play with right there in the store. Pick up one of the Lego souvenirs only available to purchase in their NYC location.
The Statue of Liberty – Everyone has to see the Statue of Liberty at least once in their lives. We were thrilled at how easy it was to get to this National Landmark from Sofitel and we were able to give our kids a memorable experience with one of the great landmarks in our country.
Times Square – When people think NYC, they think Times Square. The whole world rings in the New Year here. If New York is the city that never sleeps, this is the place that keeps everyone awake. Your family will be fascinated with the lights and excitement and so many theaters can be found in this part of the city.
Rockefeller Center – This spot in NYC is not only a popular spot within walking distance of Sofitel, it is a national historic landmark. You can visit the Top of the Rock observation deck to view New York City from 70 stories up! There is also world class shopping here. Tour Radio City Music Hall or take in a show. With the NBC studios here, you might just run into a celebrity. You can ice skate here and every Christmas, this place is decorated like no other.
When you stay at Sofitel NYC in midtown, you have your own little Manhattan getaway right in the middle of all the excitement that you came to experience. Bring the kids to see the sights and know that you are just minutes from popping back into your luxurious room or suite to relax in the modern amenities, surrounded by the gorgeous Art-Deco design. Come and go as you please; stay as long as you like. Once you have experienced the Big Apple with Sofitel as the center point of your trip, you will never visit New York City without staying here.
