Continuing our series of posts on where to lodge while visiting Orlando, we would like to bring to you a slightly different hotel- one that is perfect for a little adult getaway. Whether you’re escaping to have a babymoon and hit the coasters, taking an anniversary trip with your loved one, or going to Orlando for a convention, the newly redesigned, re-opened Castle Hotel is a perfect place to stay that brings the whimsy of childhood into the adult atmosphere.

Castle Hotel
Newly owned by the Kessler Collection, Castle Hotel has recently been completely redesigned and re-opened in the heart of Orlando. It could not have a better location if you’re looking to visit Universal Parks that cater more to “adult children”. Located literally 5 minutes from Universal’s playground for grown ups, CityWalk, and in the midst of great restaurants and other attractions, like Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Castle Hotel has become the perfect choice for a hotel that is sure to dazzle.
HOTEL
As you drive down International Drive, you cannot miss the turrets of the Castle Hotel and the purplish-pink lights illuminating the roof. Big glass doors open up to a glimmering lobby with purple and silver couches, crystal chandeliers and, surprisingly, animal heads, displayed everywhere. Everything is glass and mirror, and everything sparkles and reflects.
After a quick check in, you can grab a drink at the equally shimmering bar, sit down in the Mardi Gras style mirror chairs or take the beaded elevator ( yes, the walls of the elevator are covered in beads!) up to your room. The design touches of the hotel are apparent everywhere, from the wall table across from your floor’s elevator, to the old style mirrored telephone, to artwork on the walls and lighting in the hallway.
ROOMS
The rooms are much simpler, with only the headboards of the bed and the mirrors on the wall, giving away the castle theme of the hotel. Clean and refurbished, they are basic, and meant to be occupied for a few hours while you catch up on sleep after a night of partying or a day of hitting the parks.
ATMOSPHERE
With mostly travelers for business and the party crowd, you will rarely see kids here. At night, you can join people gathered around at the bar for a drink and a chat while the music is playing, creating a party-like atmosphere feel in the Castle Hotel’s interior.
POOL
A circular pool surrounded by rows of palm trees and separated by a wrought iron castle gate always has a couple or two swimming, enjoying the Jacuzzi or lounging, as well as businessmen working in the covered seating areas. Adjacent to the pool, you can find a pool side bar with couches or lawn chairs and tables set up perfectly for a pool-side breakfast.
SPA
The thing that we appreciated most was, while the hotel is small and boutique-style, they still made sure to include a spa for weary travelers. Featuring one treatment room, it’s decorated in the best stylings of the Kessler Collection hotels ,and offers an extensive menu of services with skilled therapists. If you’re looking for something custom, a sampler of all technique, try the Poseidon’s Signature that features hot stones, aromatherapy, deep tissue, Swedish massages, and whatever else your heart desires and your body longs for.
If you’re looking for a no-frills relaxing stay at a glitzy new hotel close to all the hot spots, Castle Hotel is certainly a fun option to explore!
